Hey BFVers,
As some of you know, and others have experienced, the server appears to have lag spikes at times that affect certain users; these spikes range from just a few ms, to well over a hundred.
In an attempt to prevent these, or atleast get to the bottom of them, I'd like to ask any of you that get them to post here with the information below:
Don't want other people to see it? Wrap it in
tags
This data will let us know how much, if at all, your normal ping has changed as well as where your connection is coming from and where the spike occurs. For those of you who don't know how to traceroute then use this guide:
Chances are, you'll need to create a few of these in order to catch the spike, so just repeat step 2 a few times. When posting them here, please ensure you use the "Code" tags, or upload to somewhere like http://www.pastebin.com and give us the link. If you guys would rather PM them to me then that is fine but all data will be shared with our server host so we can attempt to figure this out, so posting in this thread would be preferred.
Regards,
SucceededKiller.

Code:
1.) The first step varies depending on your Operating system on your PC. Follow the steps, out of the following, based on your OS.
* <Windows 7 or Vista>: From the Start menu, in the search field, type cmd , and then press Enter.
* <Windows XP or older>: From the Start menu, select Run... . In the "Open:" box, type cmd , and then press Enter.
2.) This will bring up a small black window onto your screen. Type 'tracert 8.9.30.43 ' into this window and hit Enter.
3.) Right click the title bar of the window. A drop-down menu should pop up; select Edit > Select All.
4.) Right click the title bar of the window. A drop-down menu should pop up; select Edit > Copy.
