Byrd, I do agree with you that copyright registration should be filed with the US Copyright Office, but you clearly do not understand U.S. copyright law.
The way copyright law in the United States works is that once an "original work" is created by someone, it instantly becomes copyrighted by the person that created it. To quote the US Copyright office, "Copyright protection subsists from the time the work is created in fixed form. The copyright in the work of authorship immediately becomes the property of the author who created the work. Only the author or those deriving their rights through the author can rightfully claim copyright." That means that once someone makes something that is original, they legally own it. Under U.S. law, the HelloClan does not have file copyright documentation with respect to their website.
Furthermore, to justify the creation of an "original work", U.S. law suggests that the creator of an "original work" place a "©" with a year and a name associated with the creator of the work in order to protect their "work."
The purpose of filing for copyright registration with the US Copyright Office is that under legal proceedings, it provides proof that the owner of the copyright is in fact the true owner of the "original work" from the date that the U.S. copyright office received the correct documentation.
So then, back to your statement:

There is no "lying" about placing a "Copyright © 2011 HelloClan" at the bottom of every page on this website simply because of the way U.S. law works: The HelloClan has created this website, it is an original website, and the HelloClan can claim authorship and ownership of the work created herein. The only purpose of documentation with the U.S. Copyright Office is if the HelloClan plans on creating a lawsuit against others, or to defend their "original work" that is created upon this website.
