I'd like to call a poll, Xfire has committed a very risky April fools 'joke'. We've seen Xfire pull stunts before, but this years has gone too far for me. Under laws in the United States, and some European countries, the images below could be considered illegal to post on a 'family' website. We would like to know the opinions of our users

For those who missed this sorry excuse for a "joke":

Any video requested has a 50% or more of being re-directed to homosexual pornography:

I wouldnt call that pornography.. as it would be blocked by youtube for +18.

I really laughed at it and tried to see as much as videos i could. Theres not only your "homosexual pornography".. theres some people doing crazy things. Anyway, for me, its funny.

i think it's ok as long as they don't mess with the videos ( or nothing perverted ) like my mom could have passed and beat the shit out of me with her wooden spoon

They made a backstory and told you it was April fools as soon as they did it...I dont see a problem. Sure it could cause some problems for some people but it was more funny that forcing "pornography"? onto you...

Also, people have different levels of humour. You may have found this bad, well I could say the same about Stubbs posts as I dont view pretending your in a major car accident as funny, especially as major car accidents usually end in a fatality, but i'm not going to start a thread saying Stubbs should go as that is obviously the sort of thing he finds funny, just something you have to learn to deal with...if the world and whats in it revolved around the views of some, or tried to incorporate everyones it would be boring or impossible respectively, you cant please everyone, someone will always find something wrong.

As much as I like being accused as a small minded idiot. Perhaps some people would like me to elaborate where it is that I'm coming from.

I'm looking at this from the stand-point of the Coordinator of Communications and Conflict. We used videos (often shot in xfire) as evidence to ban players from our gaming servers. Our moderators and admins already have their hands full, and this is an excellent way to help us speed up the process. The last thing we need is to end up looking at soft homosexual pornography, instead of viewing these videos that are critical to getting griefers off the servers. Not to mention a great number of unexplained tech issues for some users following this event. Needless to say this is abit of an annoyance, that is more than easy enough to discontinue from the standpoint of Xfire.
Now because we have received a no from the xfire staffers about as unprofessionally as the april event itself... I've been considering looking at other, more professionally run chat softwares, because there is no reason that we have to deal with unnecessary inconveniences posed by the way xfire is managed.
To address Jon's pointed remarks, the reason behind not consulting the rest of hello's staff was thanks to the timezone predicament with an international clan. There was no one else awake to talk to, and our clan leader was on vacation, and this is my department to deal with. So I delt with the issue by bringing up my concerns with xfire.
I get it that it's all fun and games behind this 'joke' and that the majority found this event funny. But a resonable amount of people see these sort of riske' themed events annoying, if not disturbing.
I'd also like to address the people skimming over my statement. I in no way claimed the videos illegal, I stated that they MAY be considered illegal on a FAMIlY website. Although xfire is 13+ to join the content is open to anyone on the Internet... And thus sue-able if a small child were to view a video for a game like ... Let's say bookworms... and be directed to gunther dancing naked.
Now I'm a sure at least someone here didn't read all of this, and is going to mis-understand everything about the standpoint of where I'm coming from, so let it be known that I won't be commenting on this further until we can get a full meeting between all faculty here.

Oh no, one day of no videos. The horrour! Seriously, QQ moar. I bet you weren't there for H-fire, were you? I'd rather see Gunther with a beer bottle near his family-jewels then David Hasselhoff with a fucking pug near his man hood.

You putting in "Under laws" make it sound like its illegal. In fact, anybody with a brain would perceive you as saying its illegal. As if you were trying to scare the Xfire staff into changing it back. So please, go QQ back and "hack" something, will you?

lol Pink. They are also from the xfire website :p Not many spambots make replies related to the topic :p They are also not a guy ;)
And Lost, he is telling Travco to go "QQ" to someone else has he posted it on the xfire forums addressed to xfire staff, that being the someone he is referring to.
The topic is here, then you can see why they visit here and then decide to post :p

and Travco, the main problem seems to be the "we". You said on behalf of helloclan and used "we" alot but as far as I can tell the "we" is just you and that's brought us all into it, and to be honest, I doubt you would get near 2 people to remove xfire due to the fact we all use it either for recording/screenshotting gameplay or chatting and i doubt your find a free alternative that provides all of xfires features bundled into 1. You also cant expect people to do nothing on April fools, or the day becomes non-existent and its all about having fun,now maybe it wasn't your sort of fun, but don't drag us all down, even if you didn't consult the leadership due to time zone difficulties (although why the topic had to be addressed almost instantly i don't know) you could of just polled the members on the forum at the time, at least then you would have some sort of evidence to back up the claim as opposed to saying alot of us were unhappy with it, then viewing the poll results here that completely disagreed. Also you have to remember xfire isn't here for helloclan to get troublemakers off their server but also for everyone else to chat, record videos, take screenshots etc so yes, maybe it was an inconvenience to you, but it was only a day and there was only about 1 report if i remember correctly, so it wasn't catastrophic and the redirection of videos was not permanent either (according to xfire staff, I didn't check myself). Its also nice to see even companies like xfire have a sense of humour, and its a gaming commuity, you should expect this sort of thing and considering in the post they made that accompanied the change they said "happy April fools" (although it was in Morse code) you cant really complain.

Also, xfire did say they were working on the tech issues and even informed us when it as taking longer than expected.

SK, I like you. You're actually observant =P Quite right. I'm not a guy. Shouldn't assume things BigPinkPig ;)

And Travco, it is quite apparent (as SK said) from the results of this poll that you spoke for everyone without their permission. Perhaps if you'd stopped to ask people before posting, you might not have made such a fool of yourself.

Have a nice day =]

I'm here on behalf of HelloClan International

Hello everyone,

I am the HelloClan Consult & Member Manager. I just realised there was a thread made by Travco here. I'm sorry Travco, but at the moment, more people said no it was a nice joke.

On the xfire it looks like you're posting that on behalf of HelloClan, but if you're not, you shouln't post that you are.
