All you need...​

... is the racing map:

• Download the map here:
  https://drive.google.com/file/d/1MYNV7xrnSz6Qu-vRcOfmiOy3BRsT4-lj/view?usp=sharing
  
  
• Once downloaded, copy the map "Raceway.rfa" and navigate to your levels folder. Usually found in:
  C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Games\Battlefield Vietnam\Mods\BfVietnam\Archives\BfVietnam\Levels
  Or
  C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield Vietnam\Mods\BfVietnam\Archives\BfVietnam\Levels
  
  
• Inside the levels folder, you'll know it's the right one if there are other levels/maps inside such as hastings etc, just paste the Raceway.rfa map inside there and you're done!

How the race works:​

Once we're all on board with every corner and hazard, an Admin will coordinate the race itself. How this will work:

To grab everyone's attention, the admin will pause the server and use the YELLOW ADMIN TEXT to inform all drivers (and co-drivers) to get to their vehicles when the server is un-paused. When this happens please do the following!

• Spawn (or respawn) and grab a vehicle. Do not move it, please stay where it spawned in as it represents a starting line.
  
  
• Once everyone is ready and in their vehicles, the server will be paused - this indicates the race is about to begin.
  Whilst the server is paused at this point, feel free to hold your W (forward movement key for vehicles etc) in and maybe even the turbo (fire button) so you're ready!
  
  
• The admin will then unpause the server, the race has begun and you need to high-tail it!
  
  
• As seen in the video, the finish line lays beyond a huge ramp. Make it to the other side where the Pagoda and Heli-spawn point is and you've won! If you die on the way, you can re-spawn and grab a vehicle to get back into the race!

Winners of the race claim bragging rights by flying the huey and watching the chaos below.

Try out the map!​

The map will be running on the event server by the end of the day.

For this event we will leave the main server up for those who want vanilla, and we will use the mod server for this event for those who want to pop in and out and participate in the fun!

This map has also been added to DataField Vietnam. Anyone who uses DataField will have the map automatically downloaded when joining the server from the in-game server browser.

I got into the game this evening but this event was apparently over. I missed it. Normal maps were playing. I assumed that the event runs till the end of the day.

This event wasn’t on the main server. 6 or so people played the event started at 8pm UTC which is 3:00PM Eastern I think.

We have traditionally announced events on the main server so that our regular players are aware they are happening. From there, interested players can come to the forum, download any required files, and join the event.

I believe Iceskater looked into hosting events on other servers and found that it wasn't very effective, largely because most players don't regularly check the forum. Hosting events on the main server has consistently been the best way to reach the community and encourage participation.

I hope we can continue this practice, as today's event seemed much quieter without that visibility. Thank you for considering this feedback!

11 players joined at peak, but yes - after 2 hours playing the same map over and over again, the event ends sometime ;-) That's why it's important, that everyone tries to join at the start time of the event if possible. Thanks for bringing this up, we will apply this information into the announcement of the future events.
