Not that this will amount to anything but i figure in order to begin to address it there needs to be a topic.

Its gotten to the point now where BFV All Maps server is no longer "All Maps". Yes they are still there, but the map vote has become so dominant that we Rarely see certain maps anymore.
Cambodian Incursion Rare.
Ho Chi Minh Rare.
etc etc.
What I've been seeing quite often is IMO map vote being abused. Constantly skipping through maps (mainly infantry) so we can go back to a helicopter/jet/air map.
We usually get to Quang Tri and than we vote back to the top of the order and the rest of "ALL MAPS" gets skipped.
I will sit out if im not feeling certain maps. Theres lots of people that LOVE DART. LOVE HASTINGS. i get it... i wouldn't try and vote them away unless we had dwindling players.
It is becoming more and more abused as people (admins included) press the issue in game chat until they see their way and the map gets changed. Counting out the number of votes obsessively. Than when they're not getting the vote, than they start looking for an afk to kick so they can force the map change.
Non stop spam calling players and forcing a vote. I've never seen administrators push players so hard to change maps as i did today.
Not hoping for any immediate resolution. But hopefully a common ground so that we still remain ALL MAPS, and we arent just playing the maps that certain players wish to play.

IMO I don't believe admins should be pressing the map vote issue as it was today. They should remain bias, and remember this is HELLO ALL MAPS, not HELLO AIR MAPS.

Its HELLO ALL MAPS. Not HELLO AIR MAPS.

I am for all cards without voting. It feels like we are constantly playing 4 cards in a circle and it is sad.

😂 Toxey, you took longer than I expected. Anyway, you have exaggerated a bit, but you've touched on a topic that's been discussed to death.

You might not expect this, but I agree with you. It's actually the maps at the end of the current order that are my favorite, and not in the beginning. If it was up to me, I'd mix 1 air and 1 ground map throughout. But we have done this before, and people weren't happy with that either.

The current solution has worked the most so far it seems, and people are generally happy. Votes actually rarely go through, and if there aren't enough people, those who want other maps start to get angry and threaten to leave, which is something at least I try to avoid. Sadly, it seems more players want to play those 5-6 air maps ONLY, and not even touch a ground map.

Personally my least favorite maps are the Quang Tri ones, followed by the Hue ones. The only reason for that is because I think there's too much tickets on them, the maps themselves are good (well, Quang Tri is quite boring, but still, if we only played it 10-15 minutes at most it would be cool).

There will always be players who advocate for the server being All Maps (I'm one of them too), and those that want it to be Air Maps, like you said. This is why I have the following proposition:

Why not we make it truly an All Maps server? Let's leave voting on, but let's have the less popular maps be at low tickets (for example, 100 tickets each for maps like Ia Drang or Landing Zone Albany, 150 tickets for Quang Tri and Hue and so on). That way, we'll both get to play all maps, and not spend too much time on one map.

Maps like Ho Chi Minh Trail and Cambodian Incursion are VERY fast maps, usually they don't last more than 10-15 minutes, even with low amount of players. Yet almost no one likes them, and they get skipped often.
I think making the game more fast-paced in terms of maps would be a good solution. We'll keep the popular maps at their current (high) ticket count, and just lower the less popular maps' ones.

My opinion comes from my personal experience though, but if anyone else has one that can appease both parties, let's hear it.

Spot on Tox.

I ended up fully uninstalling and deleting the game from my computer after the weekend before last due to those exact reasons. I don't plan on coming back, the server has fundamentally changed and doesn't seem like the top leadership are attempting a course correction with it either. In game admins have flat out said when I was in the game that top Hello leadership simply doesn't care to put in the effort anymore for such things such as events due to being "too busy" and it being "too much work." If that's true, time to hand off the responsibility to people who are more committed to the server.

Its no longer Allmaps. Its 5-6 maps, at most, for the past year now. As Toxic mentioned, the exact same maps are in the same rotation non-stop and quite frankly is boring as hell. Hastings, Dart, Warden, Quang Tri, over and over. I do appreciate Hue and Saigon 68 being near the top, I don't appreciate that other great infantry maps like Albany and Cedar Falls are put near the bottom of the rotation, fully knowing they will likely not be played on any weekend. The rotation should be randomized once a month, It would take 5 minutes at most to re-arrange the map order in Remote Manager. Theres really no excuse to not be having "Allmaps" actually play on the server.

The incessant map voting in the chat is what finally made me decide to delete the game. Having an admin ask for a map vote is a good thing. It should be used at appropriate times and when its obvious it would be beneficial to the server player count, usually towards the end of the day when player numbers are dwindling. Key word: Discretion. During my last time on the server, and previous times before that, the map voting was absolutely abhorrent. You have trolling players such as Pinky and Grasshopper who decided to ask for a vote at the start of Every. Single. Freaking. Map. and admins who were asking players non-stop in chat to vote vote vote. When a server already has a lot of people playing, just let the map run. It becomes extremely disruptive to people simply wanting to play the game undisturbed when this crap is going on non-stop in the chat and maps being changed constantly.

What ends up happening is that guys such as myself and Toxic, then have to jump into the chat, when all we want to do is play the game, and try to do an anti-vote to whatever map is being suggested. We wait sometimes hours for an infantry map, only to get into the game and have a new vote immediately started and admins taking it seriously and spamming the chat. Highly disruptive, creates toxcitiy and bad gaming experience for all.

Admins really need to learn discretion on the map votes. If there is enough people already playing, just let the map run normally. Ignore the map voting players asking for it in chat because they don't like the map. If you have to, warn them for spamming the chat or just kick them if they don't stop. They've been playing for 20 years, they're not going anywhere if you spank them.

Excuse me Flight, "HAVE TO" jump into the chat? No one is forcing you 😂

You do "anti-votes"? Why? And should you do that? You're obstructing the active map vote, which by all means should be forbidden. And the thing you suggested basically means "simply ban the map voting and ignore people for wanting to play other maps".

That's the exact same argument as the one you're making, so if we play maps you two don't like, you'll be completely ignored. I suggest you read what I posted earlier, and try to come up with something that doesn't only suit you and Tox.

Suit only me and tox? I just want to play a map uninterrupted. Good or bad map, lets play it. Even when the main culprits get an air map voted in, they're already voting for the next map at the beginning of the map they just voted for. It is so distracting to people trying to actually play.

I'm not really sure what I wrote that is confusing you. Map voting is good when done with proper discretion, not at the beginning of every single map by trolling players. Its really obvious there is an issue with the constant map voting on the server.

When a new map begins, and a map vote is started immediately upon that map starting, that is spam. Its continually happening and its not being moderated. The same culprits are given fuel to continue this behavior and it ruins the experience for all in game.

The chat messages going off every second with votes, Y/N's, people being asked what they vote for is very, very distracting and isn't appropriate when the server has a lot of people playing already. Just let the maps run.

I'm not playing BFV anymore, so take it all with a grain of salt. Good luck Tox, lol.

I like the quotation marks at "too busy". As you may have noticed, LTShaun is about to organize events. I'm putting much time into this game on a daily basis helping people downloading and installing the game. And even BangBang, who is responsible for BF1942, is spreading information about our clan and BFV on several platforms. So... just because you do not see the effort, does not mean there is no effort :)

Back to this topic: There will be no randomized map-rotation. This was tested some years ago and resulted in players leaving/not joining.

I agree, that we need to get back to be an "Allmaps" Server, and that some votes are unnecessary, as they just start to avoid playing certain maps. We'll check with the admin team, if we can handle it in another way.

It has zero to do with what maps suit myself or Flight. And in fact Flight couldn't have stated it better when he said:

Read it back if you need to, but this is literally on point.

And Magpie, i was not making this topic about you if thats how you were interpreting it. Just that the constant map vote being pressed Hard in the server was becoming an issue that i hoped to shine a light on.

Is it not possible to change the "ALL MAPS" map rotation by clicking a few buttons in Remote Manager? If i remember correctly its quite easy. And it really should, because it is the exact same 5-6 maps every time and than the map votes start coming in to go back to Hastings or Dart, and we never get to play the other maps. Start it on cambodian for a change. or Lang vie.
I feel like we could do a bit better.

It only became an issue when I did it for one night, but:

Yeah Tox, it's super easy to change the map rotation or stop map voting all together, but you seem to easily forget the countless discussions we all had about it throughout the years, so I think it should be obvious the ideas you and Flight suggested, and your actions on the said night are definitely not sensible, as it would only suit the few players that have complained about it. We're still discussing on the topic, so give it more time.

My actions on said night? You mean going to spectate and sitting out on certain maps? Or not voting to change the maps?
Not sure what you're referencing to, nor does it really matter.
And as I first stated when this topic was made only 7 days ago:

"Not that this will amount to anything, but I figure in order to begin to address it there needs to be a topic."

I know it will take time and discussion, Thats exactly why I made the topic. The mapvote has been pressed to the extreme lately... As for the Map suggestions I was just tossing around the ideas of changing up the rotation of the maps in RM as an easy way of refreshing the server without making any major changes.

Flight you better not uninstall that game either. Just stay and beat them at their own game:)

By "your" I meant both of you. As for the actions, I mean actively trying to disrupt the voting in progress, and launching your own votes on your own accord with the same goal. Now this does matter now, doesn't it? Remembering selectively is not a good thing.

"Lately"? Could you give more examples than the specific night? Because I don't remember another day where this was an issue. Either way, I have nothing more to add to this topic, nor do I think I'm not being transparent enough for each party to get the whole picture.
