Recently, a big change happened which is resulting in the disappearance of the in-game server list. Similar to what we encountered with Battlefield Vietnam (although not related directly).
However, the 1942 community is vast and several server owners / administrators (and dedicated players) came together to formulate a fix. It's basically the same in this aspect as what had to be done for Battlefield Vietnam. All players must please either update their hosts file or replace their BF1942.exe with a new patched version.
We've replaced the OpenSpy patcher download file in our Battlefield 1942 resources page with that of the 1.61 patched Battlefield 1942 executable. The one used is an extract & copy + paste version. There is a self installer but it does kick up a false positive. If you want to use the self installer, I'll leave a link below.
Please note that it is imperative that all players update accordingly, and remember to click "Update" from within the game's server list menu to re-populate it!
