I have a suggestion for events:

On the day and time of the event: If the event is on another server (besides the main BFV Hello server) such as other BFV Mod servers, or game platforms such as BF42, BF1942, CS:GO, etc, then an admin or staff keep a player on the main BFV server, and other non-event servers with the name of the player saying "Go to HELLO Mission Possible Now Aug 21" as an example. This way when someone who has not been to the forum for a while can see why the server is empty and get on the other server, or get on the forum and find the thread to download the game, mod, map-pack, etc. Also, turn off the timer on the other servers so the map stays on longer for people to read the player name message.

Hey Al,

Whilst I appreciate this idea, please bear in mind that I exhaust every other means of informing players of our events, without quite unfairly asking someone to spend time in an empty server (or busy) just as a placeholder for an event. The main reason for the forum in the first place is for news etc. :)

Couple that with the gigantic banner I use that shows "upcoming" events with the date and a link to it's relevant topic, it's literally the first thing that hits you when you visit the forum.

Bear in mind that I also post our events to all of our social networks and I also send a reminder the day before the event too. Agathyus also takes the time to make a bit of video so those subscribed to our YouTube channel also can see there's an event coming up soon.

There's also an event bot on our Discord server that, if you RSVP to an event in the #event-calendar channel, will remind you before an event starts. Also the google-calendar that people can subscribe too and get email notifications for events. Speaking of Discord, I also send a reminder the day before the event to the entire Discord server as well. Including the fact that I share the events to our partners and their platforms (in case we have members there or if they have players interested in playing the events with us).

I've also recently re-done the server announcements that now looks like this:

Code:
Welcome to -[HELLO]-Bfv | Allmaps!

So...as you can see I go through quite a lot of trouble already to make sure our players / members know about our events. Please also bear in mind that the servers might not be empty because of events, just it's a weird time of month. Also, each community will soon be self sufficient (hopefully), so it's entirely a choice if someone wants to change over to CS:GO from BFV for example. :) Or another game...

All our players / members have several platforms at their disposal to keep up to date with us;

If someone can't check in on the bare least (our website) I can't help them there I'm afraid.

Your suggestion has merit, but it's rather unfeasible and unfair to ask of someone to plant their PC in-game as an advertisement ploy. Thank you though.

Regards,
Ice

Thanks for everything that you and Agathius do to announce events. My suggestion to leave a bot on the main server with the player name announcement is for those who somehow missed all those announcements and got on an empty main server. Believe it or not, but there are players out there who don't subscribe to social media and this forum but do get on the main server to just play the game quite often, and I am sure they are unaware that there is an actual event going on another HELLO server with free mods.
