Been ages that I've ungraded windows on my older PC.
It runs windows 8.1 pro.
If I upgrade all my installed software should remain installed?
I have backed up all my personal files

It should, but at the same time keep in mind if too old it may not work. If you google Microsofts Windows 10 software compatibility page you check ahead of time. if it's not supported then uninstall to avoid issues. hope this helps!

I didn't even know that was a thing until just now. I thought you were joking at first. Did some looking and I'm not impressed. When Windows 10 came out, Microsoft swore it was the last system in the series they'd be developing for the foreseeable future. I'm sure 11 will be just as much of a nightmare as 10 turned out to be.

I retired XP this year and switched to 7…not ready for windows 11 either.
