In some parts of the world this may not matter but, in our little part of the world over the last week , we have faced some very devastating storms, never in my life have I seen any more powerful than these. Most of you know I've been around for some time. Tornadoes have blown away entire towns , killed over 300 people and now torrential rains are going to be causing some serious flooding. Many people, including my family ,our friends and neighbors are about to lose their homes and all their belongings. I would encourage all of you no matter what or who you believe in to stop at some point during the day and pray for or at least wish good will and safety to those facing this problem. The rain is coming again tonight and there is nothing we can do to stop it. WE will be moving precious belongings to safety and moving for those who cannot do it themselves. I would encourage you all to help where you can and if your area is not affected then send a bit of money to somewhere that can use it. That $5.00 you were going to spend at McDonalds surely would buy a case of clean drinking water for those who really do need it. Just remember natural disasters can strike anywhere on the planet...maybe you next time. God Bless

I don't understand this still. Yes I know it's not tornado season, but why are you all like "omg where did come from". They live in a tornado alley, what makes them think they can't be hit, at any time? Unless a Tsunami hits the middle of the US, I think they should be prepared at all times.

Your parents must be wealthy and psychic to know when your going to have an Earthquake. "With such an area prone for Earthquakes I don't understand why people are shocked when one comes."

Implying I don't have an Emergency fund for anything that happens. It may only be €1.000, but its enough to live a week or two after a disaster.

Also, my dad is Rich to some Americans, but I receive none of his money. So why are you saying anything about wealth? All my money is made by working since I was 9.

You think that when there's a disaster and the area you live in cant be reached from other parts of the world, you can buy that last bit of water your neighbours have or some food that other people have? I don't think money will be worth anything then.

Unless that disaster destroyed my bike, or put me 100 Kilometres from a form of transportation, I will be going to Italy, New York, or where ever, and stay there. Hence the €1.000 for a plane ticket. It would be stupid to stay there.

The tsunami in Japan destroyed most of the roads or turned them into mud. It was nearly impossible to leave the disaster area. Now I have no idea what desasters could happen in Italy, but you proberbly wont be able to leave the area with your bike and $1000, also because there will be ( dont know a better word) robbers.

Lets see lovely Italy has earthquakes and some nearby volcanoes that could ruin ones day. If the errupting was large enough, no plane would be flying and I doubt you would be biking unless you had the ability to breath another way. Earthquake Kurk could probably flee from.

Nearest above ground volcano is in Sicily. Don't think that will affect me that much. Unless you mean the Campi Flegrei.

Yes , as I expected, Kurk has once again hijacked a post. Instead of being respectful of the situation he has decided to make it all about him. He has time and again proven his selfishness. Kurk,if you cant contribute any helpful dialogue to the conversation, I would suggest you not say anything at all.
Just an update for everyone who thinks this is a non event. Kentucky Lake which is one big friggin lake is now full. That was kind of a last ditch hope that it would catch some of the runoff waters from up North. All area lakes are now at full capacity. Sand boils are now forming along the massive levees along the Tennessee, Ohio and Mississippi Rivers. That in itself is a very bad omen. This means the ground is so saturated that water is percolating the soil. Failure of the levees is almost certain at this point. If the lower Mississippi Delta floods the cost will be incalculable. The rain has continued over the last two days dropping another 5.4 inches into the already saturated ground. The Wolf and Loosahatchie Rivers are now running backwards from the massive force of the Mississippi River pushing them back upstream. My grandmothers house is in three feet of water. My sisters house is going to flood by tomorrow should think "Computer Dave" my good friend is going to have his house flooded today as well.I don't think the water is going to rise enough to flood my house, so we are using it as a command center for our family and friends who are going to be displaced by the flood waters. They will be able to wash clothes , have a hot meal and mainly try to relax from a ridiculously stressful situation.

Once again, people don't realise its an opinion and respond to it as though its a fact. If you don't want me to respond anymore, don't encourage me.
