When I exit the game, for some reason, my monitor screen settings are 800 X 600 and it is a project to get them back to 1920 X 1080. Anybody know why this is happening and is there a way to put the kabosh to it?

yea, ive seen that happen. Its typically when the graphics driver crashes when you exit BFV.

When exits to windows your in VGA mode. Prob BFV is not exiting properly , when that happens it doesn't remember the graphics settings on Windows and does a quick dump. Your game is hanging up on you .

Hi guys

I have a similar problem and I get my desktop icons rearranged as well. Its just the price of "retro gaming".

I've seen this problem a number of times, and the closest thing I found to be a cause was an odd power fluctuation as I exited the game. I'll avoid all the technical jargon associated with the internal wiring of a home and its association with streaming internet as it would be confusing to the layperson and also because I don't understand it myself and would be making up a lot of the terms.

The only solution I ever found that truly worked was changing the light bulb nearest to my computer. Good luck Pinky.

Canada - I've found that 11 watt incandescent bulbs work the best at preventing this problem.

Pinky and Vmax, you could try running the game in Windowed Mode.

You should have a file called VideoDefault.con. Its location is dependent on your configuration but it should be here in many cases:
C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield Vietnam\Mods\BfVietnam\settings\VideoDefault.con

Make a copy of the VideoDefault.con file as a backup before you edit it.
Find a line that specifies the renderer.FullScreen settings and change it from 1 to 0. If that line does not exist, add it.
Start BFV and it should be in windowed mode now.

renderer.FullScreen 0

Then once the game launches to in a window, you can expand it to full screen by clicking on top window bar and dragging it up to the top of your screen - it should expand the screen to fill your monitor then. Every time a map changes, you will have to re-expand the window.

When you are in windowed mode, you may not be able to move the mouse outside of the game window. Alt-Tab to switch to something else (another application, folder, etc) will free the mouse. Grabbing the top of the window bar is tricky - you won't see the mouse move on it so you have to guess the position and click and drag up when you think you are there. If you move the mouse too far into the window and click, you will have to alt-tab to get out again. Re-read this paragraph after you get window mode working, and it will make more sense.

If you spend more than 15 minutes on this, you may want to consider taking Canada's advice and go buy some 11 watt incandescent bulbs.

First off, I read Can's comment about the bulbs .... and I am thinking, is this one of those "sky hangar" jokes? Gonna send me running (hopping on one leg) around the house to change out bulbs? Btw, every light in my house is LED. As I am getting my post together, I see that another post has come along and it is Sellout. I read his. Now I am thinking, are these two guys yanking my chain.... would bulbs make a difference....

The only light I have near my computer is a little desk light with a very small bulb.

I run dual monitors. In the past, I was unable to run the game with both monitors running. Now, for reasons I cannot explain, the game will run on one. On the other screen I can see Discord and who/what is going on there. I played yesterday and when I exited, my left monitor (where the game was played) was messed up. I then did all the adjustments to restore it using the other monitor and it was easier to fix.

I will give your suggestion a try SellOut. Thanks.

I adding to this if your interested.

Check Windows event viewer , this will show logs , crashes , errors etc by time stamp. When you have time and the game exits like that go to the Event Viewer.
Notate the time-stamp when this happens. You only need to view the at the point if when the issue happens. Then read error and google it.
Chances are this has happened before and google results will show a forum or site that talks about it.

I have had problems when I exit BF1 sometimes the signal is completely lost and I have to do a hard reboot. All my drivers are up to date as well as software and there are no conflicts. The only thing good about this is that it is not isolated to my pc as I was thinking I had a lemon.
