Troubles with parents

Hey guys im not sure if anyone has this trouble, but do you ever have that "dont know who your talking to on the internet" thing with your parents? because i indeed do. When i play games sometimes, or use my mic, im always questioned by my parents who im talking to and stuff, and if i tell them its a random person, i end up getting dirty looks. i asked my mom why she gets mad wen i play multiplayer and stuff, and she says, i might meet a pedofile. i know where shes coming from, but i know about internet safety, and i think its silly my mom and dad think im gonna give people personal info, if i do, its simple general knowledge like the general location of where i live, my age, and stuff like that. i wont go far as to ask a person online to meet me, or maybe give them my cell phone number or my EXACT place i live, street adress and everything and i have NEVER told anyone my last name. i have considered maybe wen im an adult, to meet a few of u guys, but still, u guys ever have that problem with parents? All u guys know about me is my Name is Anthony, Im 14, and im from Hawaii...

Well, I don't live with my parents, but I live with my Grandmother and she never has a problem with it. She doesn't usually say anything if I keep up with paying for the internet and my grades are up too. Although... I tend not to tell a lot to those I don't know for some time, and even then, I don't think I've told Zero, or Zam, my first name. All you know about me is my middle name and my age, and maybe my location (excluding the stalker, Berserker). I would tell them that most of the people you play with are in your age group and the probability of meeting a Pedophile on an online game is very, very slim. Pedophiles would rather prefer a chat room on AIM than a game as there are less distractions and it takes a longer time to bond to a point where you want to meet people in real life. Although, if you are into Korean E-Sports, a 13 year old kid did get molested by his clan leader whilst training for a StarCraft tournament, but the teams in Korea actually bunk together in the same building, so thats entirely different.

There. Thats all you can get off me by hearing me talk, or type over the internet. What the fuck are you going to do with that information? Come straight to my house and rape me? How? Even if you do meet a pedophile over the internet, the best thing he can do is track your IP. But then what? He has no idea how my schedule works or where I go during the day besides school.

For some reason, parents do not see this logic.

Yea I have that issue actually. Same case unlike Giggles. And you did ask someone from online to meet you . But I get where your coming from, your best bet is to just sit down with them at dinner and tell them the everything that your doing.

I kind of had it but more with text chat than voice not that it mattered as i dont talk to my parents much but it didnt matter to me as its my choice. I didnt start online gaming until I was 17, at least on the PC, but what people know I dont really mind. I'm sure alot of the people I talk to have my mobile number, address, name, school etc but it doesnt bother me as I cant think of any problems coming from it, sure you hear about paedophiles etc but until it happens to me or someone i know, im not going to worry about it, if i worried about everything ive heard of my life would be a very depressing thing. And yes, im 18 now but still...I dont see internet safety as such a huge concern it is portrayed to be, and if you do do stuff be sensible, dont meet someone alone or in a quiet place etc, that way you have nothing to worry about anyway. I'm planning on meeting some people but even at 18 i'm not going to meet them in some back alley in a city I dont know

Yes, happens.. My mom was scared once.. but she's still scared when i tell her theres some ppl of 40 yo. But then I tell her they are in Germany, for example, and then its fine. But really, I don't know why she is scared because I can put some 250 pound guy down (yes, he has muscles and plays football).

ahhh good times, when i was 16 i played SOCOM, and i sweared at all these kids codding and my mom heard me and yelled at me, but when i meet a well lets call him a (no life person who rapes little kids) i just made fun of him
