Not a Swift idea, but something that I thought might help the server came to mind a few weeks ago, and I wanted to present it to everyone for consideration.

Server numbers have been down for a while: some due to attrition of time, some due to the end of Gamespy, some due to lower numbers (vicious circle of irony there). So, what can we do to help solve the problem and make the server a happy place for everyone?

I am glad you asked...or I asked...someone did. Pardon my digression. My inner monologue has mostly been a smart-ass lately.

Since the holiday season will soon be upon us, what could be a more thoughtful gift than Battlefield Vietnam? Yes, buy it for your friends, your family, your hateful ex-wife. The point is, for a few dollars, you can give another person a cool gift that will entertain them for hours, days, weeks, and even years. Tell them how to get to Hello server. Introduce them to the game that we all enjoy. Tell them to run over my land mines (I need the kills).

Therefore, as we head into the season of love and charity, please consider giving BFV, wanton killing, napalm, CAR-15, bouncing betties, the horrific destruction involved just stepping off the freakin' bridge trying to reclaim Hue. Battlefield Vietnam. It's the gift that keeps on giving all year long, just like Jelly of the Month Club.

Great plan from our northern-sexy-man. It's not even an expensive gift to give someone. I can think of 2 ppl who just might join.

Another small thing that we could do as a community is stop yelling at those who tube, fly or tank. As tempting as it is, (and I have been known to call out a noob or 2 myself...hehe) I would rather play with tubers than by myself =D

It is a great idea. We could also rip the original game and share it on different downloading servers/forums. I don't know how to rip a computer game but I could post it on at least 3 different forums with thousands of potential new players.

This sounds like a good plan, it will be nice to get some more people here.

I have a few things still in the works so with any luck we should get an increase in players.

If there's anything you guys need that I might be able to provide then let me know and I'll see what I can do.

I'd prefer it if you didn't do this, as it could throw a spanner in the works with some current plans. Not to mention you'd be breaking the EULA by doing this, and most websites will not allow the illegal distribution of it anyway due to potential legal action.

Hopefully I'll have some more helpful information before the end of the month.

Hey,

So I have some awesome news for all of you, which I'll consolidate into a single topic later along with some other resources as soon as I can.

EA got back to me and they will host an ISO of the game whilst other methods are looked into/worked on.

I will try and get as much done today as I can regarding:
How to install the game from the ISO file
How to get a CD-Key
A basic guide on how to play the game, covering things like tunnels.
A draft of some new rules for us all to discuss regarding hacking accusations and insulting players for their weapon choice. If we get new players, I don't want them being driven away by joining a toxic atmosphere on the server just because the weapon they chose, or their skills, are in question.

I also plan on compiling a list of websites where it may be worthwhile letting them know about this. I'll add the list below, but if any of you have suggestions please go ahead and tell me.

So far:
Battlelog
Reddit
(I may try and get in touch with some gaming websites like RPS that I believe do a piece on older games.)

With that said, if anyone has questions or concerns feel free to ask/let me know as a reply here or by PM.

Regards,
SucceededKiller
