//Things to insert in topic later :
-pbsvc
-wi-fi session

Since a lot of players have being having connection problems, i decided to make my own tutorial to fix it.
I will be checking this topic from time to time, and try to help as well as i can.Though i do work everyday, i will divert some time to help.

Well Lets get to business.A lot of Things can cause Lag and disconnection... Lets start With the thing i love to fight.. VIRUS!!!
Yes, those evil monsters are a pest if you dont have a good Antivirus Solution like Kaspersky. If you do use any Free antivirus, like avast , avg... Please, buy kaspersky or GData... They are the best around. Even Norton, though have some bugs.... I personally use Kaspersky 3.0 PURE , which gives me everything i need.

Ok, Virus, How to fight them:

1: Lets start with something simple :

AdwCleaner
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/

ºDownload it
ºOpen it

Then This screen or similar, will show :

adw1.png

Click, Scan/Search.
After it does scan, click Delete/Clean.

It will require restart.
Restart the computer.

A log will show, please post down here so we/myself can check for badwares or something bad.

2 - HiJackThis

Alright that was the first step, kinda easy.

Second thing to do :
http://sourceforge.net/projects/hjt/

Download, execute.
Click , accept and Execute and show/save Log
Copy the log and paste here.

COMBO FIX

Now The third one is a little more tricky. And its only recommended if you know what you are doing.
This step, depending on the computer infection, may cause your windows, especially XP or less, to not boot anymore, so you may need to use safe mode to repair it. Its rare to happen, but if its really infected, it may happen.I used in my pc and in my clients pc and never happened but i heard cases. But this thing REALLY cleans the shit up. //Sorry for my language lol

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/combofix/

Code:
BleepingComputer Review:
ComboFix is a program, created by sUBs, that scans your computer for known malware, and when found, attempts to clean these infections automatically. In addition to being able to remove a large amount of the most common and current malware, ComboFix also displays a report that can be used by trained helpers to remove malware that is not automatically removed by the program.

Please note that running this program without supervision can cause your computer to not operate correctly. Therefore only run this program at the request of an experienced helper.

Thats the description. As you can see, you should use it carefully. Unless you are secure of yourself.

I did use several times and nothing happened, so yeah!

Alternatives :

If you dont want use combo fix we can try some other , more safe programs... So lets go to them,

I recommend this : http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/downloa ... i-rootkit/

And this :

Avast Browser Cleaner...

First of all, lets use logic here, ok?
If any bad program shows up in any part of this program, that means you need to go unninstall it manually at control panel even after cleaning with avast browser cleaner.Trust me.

http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Browser- ... 72295.html

Some of those programs have auto update, so we will need more special procedures..

Thats why we go...Ccleaner
---

Ccleaner :

https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

After installing Ccleaner , you may already have it btw, we see the easy stuff... Clean, clean registry, yeah its real easy stuff.
But lets go a place we not commonly go...

In the left side, press TOOLS, then in the right, press Startup then Click Sheduled Tasks
A table will show , like this one that i found on google :

ccleaner-scheduled-tasks_thumb.jpg

Well, Those items, some of them might me some trash, like :

Ask toolbar update
blablablalbalbalbabl

Either, delete the ones you are certain that you dont need, or screenshot and post and i will tell you which you can and which you cannot. But NORMALLY,anything with toolbar in the name, is garbage.

Also, make a clean and clean the registry.

As a last resource, if you have a free antivirus.Unninstall it, get a trial version of kaspersky, run a scan, clean the virus ( if any) and then go back to your free antivirus...
If( kaspersky found any virus ) -> Restart pc, enter safe mode, make another scan.

if(kaspersky found none virus) -> You are clean.

Now, this ends the virus section, the following post is about Network.
How to check your wi-fi, how to fix DNS issues, how to choose the best DNS IP for you, how to make a tracert, how to complain with KNOWLEDGE to your ISP....Lets do it.

Network Problems - Especially for Games with PB and BFV

A lot of things can cause that.
If you are using Wi-Fi, it may be signal interference, if its cable could be a damaged cable ( saw that before), but it may just be bad configuration or as i said before VIRUS.

Well, lets check each section and try to cover the most common cases :

Section A :
Apply to both Wi fi and Ethernet

I will start with DNS, which is something that really makes my Xfire Disconnect several times, since i switched of ISP...

Whats a DNS ? Domain name System, in a simple way, each time you write : http://www.ea.com , actually, the DNS transform all that string, into numbers with dots.... so it can become like 8.8.8.8 .. get it? good.

Several Servers in the world were strategically inserted to give best performance and confiability and nowadays, even security! To all users...
The DNS that i most relly on, is Google DNS, which is 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 , and you can ask, well WTF i do with those numbers?
Alright, i will teach you how to insert them and then i will teach you how to check whats the best DNS server for you.. It depends on your location...

Alright, lets suppose we want to try google DNS :

Primary DNS Address : 8.8.8.8
Secondary/Alternative DNS Address : 8.8.4.4

In Windows XP :
Go to Control Panel>Network Connections and select your local network.
Click Properties, then select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
Click Properties.
//http://www.mediacollege.com/computer/network/dns.html

winxp-tcpip.gif

Down there, there should be two options :
Preferred and Alternate..
In Preferred insert 8.8.8.8
and Alternate : 8.8.4.4

Apply, ok, bang! Ready!
Or not? No, its not. Some Windows likes to be little bitches and save it in a DNS CACHE. So we need flush it out!

Open CMD, or your little prompt of command :

Write ipconfig /flushdns and press ENTER

BUT REMEMBER , BETWEEN IPCONFIG AND / , THERES A SPACE!
DONT WRITE LIKE THIS : ipconfig/flushdns

INSTEAD, THIS IS THE CORRECT ONE : ipconfig /flushdns

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y129/jcee/flushdns.gif

Bam!
Open your browser and see if it works perfectly, if for somewhat, your ISP is a little bitch and locks your google DNS ( idk how other isp from other countries works, so... yeah), just go back to the tcp/ip screen and set automatically.

and ipconfig/flushdns again!

Bam, its back online. Now call your ISP and tell them to screw theirselves.

Alright.
This is a good fix, but still..... depending where you live, google dns may be too slow for you, so how do you know whats the best DNS server?

YAY THERES A PROGRAM TO DO THAT!

wow boy : https://www.grc.com/dns/Benchmark.htm
No installation needed, just open it up and press Run Benchmark and wait.

After that, a log will appear in conclusions tab.

The best/faster DNS services will appear, now you pick the best two, and put them in that DNS text field i told you before, but instead of google dns, put the two better of DNS benchmark. Okay? Hopefully i was clear here...

------------

Now... Lets go more deeply...

Tracert to hello server!
I know several people have being Disconnected from server or suffering lags.

Well lets be fair. Most of the lag comes of DDOS attacks and EVERYONE gets lagged. It seems our beloved admins made a script that detects that and refreshs the server... Probably why the QUERY PORT IS STILL FREAKING BLOCKED, Ok sorry for that hahah )

Anyway, Some lags arent common.. it could be your internet falling or simply hardware.
First lets make an IF statement here :

if( isnt hardware/CPU/Graphic card problem) -> continue with internet trobleshooting, else follow this :
//
First lets check your FPS in-game :
-you can use fraps, dxtory, or other program but i suggest that :

1-in game, open console by pressing '
now type : console.ShowFPS 1

Your fps will show in screen.
If its lower than 60, then buddy, you have to check your PC for dust and virus or other damaged stuff like HD, which i wont be covering for now because could be from heat to bad block HD.

If its lower than 60, then check all pc parts and forget the rest of this trouble shooting and go back to virus section if you didnt go yet.

//

If you are here, its because your FPS is good, and you still lag from time to time. And you ARENT USING DIAL UP! GOSH!

Ok,

SECTION B - ETHERNET USERS - NOT WI-FI

First, what any forum or technician would say is this :
"Dude update drivers and directx BLA BLA BLA BLA BLA"
Which we know only works in 1% of the cases.

In Any case, lets follow partially the book :

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... aspx?id=35
Download and update.

Ok, now... Your network drivers, we have so many in market so you might need to use some program like Driver Easy or other to find out if it needs update or not. If you have asus, simply go to www.asus.com and search for support and drivers.. You will need your motherboard model/name for it . Ok? Good. In any case, you should try drivereasy if you think this is hard, no shame, not everyone is a IT expert, as im not a surgeon myself, i could be made fun of in a Medics Forum, if theres any.. So yeah, lets move on.

After all that cliche above, we are ready for some action :

Open CMD :
Write :
tracert 8.9.30.43

after it ends, in top of cmd, right click, edit, mark/copy/select... Then go back to cmd and copy all that stuff and post here.

If theres anything more than 250, then its a ROUTE issue.Your ISP is being mad at you for not paying the bills.

Joking, but yes, theres a route problem. First thing you want to do is, reset your modem/router, in the bottom of it, theres a small hole written reset, get a clip or a small thing and press it for 10 seconds with the router powered ON, then unpress it and let it "think". Now shut the router off and on. Now wait.

tracert again. If the same thing continues, call your ISP, and be real nice...If then dont solve it, then call again and rage like Osama does when i kill him, until they solve it, ok ?

Good.

Well, besides all that, it could be a damaged cable.
Do something for me, invert your ethernet cables.Yes, your ethernet cables have two outputs, one is now connected at the router and the other at the PC, get the PC output and put where the router output was. And the one that was in the router, put in PC.

Real easy.

Next step,

This is actually the "last step", because the other steps require some more work and/or depends on your network configuration, for instance, you could have , 1 modem, 1 main-router, 2 repeater-routes, 1 switch.

Thats 5 devices that would require re-configuration and reset.
And a storm could have damaged them. So yeah, cant do this in a topic.

The last step is to check this item near to your clock :

images

If its red, its a cable issue or network card is damaged burnt or router port is damaged/burned.
Try to change port and invert cables.
If its not... Then buddy. You better open your wallet.

If its Yellow, it could be IP problem.

Well, how do we solve IP's problems?
Simple.
Actually not so simple.

Heres how it works:

Solving Internet Procols issues

I will make a simple network system and explain with it, okay?

Your pc is called : "MY_GAME_PC"

You have a DSL router called : "DLINK DSL 500B"
2a28d4fd9546b855fd4f999485eb1552.jpg

modem+d+link+dsl+500b+belo+horizonte+mg+brasil__39F626_1.jpg

This Router doesnt have a Wi-Fi , but its the same thing.
Ok, lets go.

So, the Thing here is check the DHCP Range of your router, For instance , my Router is configured to give Ip to each device connected from 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.254

So , right now, the only device connected to the router is my desktop. And i choosed this ip for it :
192.168.1.10
Well, how to configure that?

Well... LEts go back to the TCP/Ip window of windows :p

winxp-tcpip.gif

if your DHCP rage is from 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.254 then you can pick any from that range.

in the window above, insert in the correct order :

192.168.1.10 ( The one you choose)
255.255.255.0 ( or the default one)
Default Gateway : is the IP that you use to access your router.
Normally is the minimal - 1 of the DHCP range, or you can look below your router.. Mine is : 192.168.1.1
So i put : 192.168.1.1

Then below, but the DNS as Before. And Apply.

Should work now.
If you dont know your gateway, open CMD, write : ipconfig... it should say there. :)

If it doesnt, its because it cant communicate with the router.

Then you will need to check your router model and check the gateway of it.

---

Theres a lot of more that i could teach here but, the topic is already huge... Hopefully this cover the basics.. I will edit this later, and Insert a Wi-fi Config Tutorial to maximize performance and fix stuff.... But for now this is enough.

---

Thanks :) And please reply !

Heya, sorry i didnt see your topic in this morning but im replying now.

I always like to make a brief comment before posting all data behind as evidence.

Short Answer:
No,unless you use other programs as adwcleaner, hijack, malwarebytes.
If you really want protection, according to the " http://www.av-comparatives.org/ "

Kaspersky ( which i use) was the 2013 Winner. And it does its job perfectly.
Never had to use any other program to defend myself.
Never was hacked, also it protected my from DDOs Attack that once came from somewhere in my country(Fucking Virgins).

So i recommend any of these, the best : Kaspersky, F-Secure,Norton,GData.

Dont ever use Mccafee, never buy it.NEVER EVER! I saw stuff happening, where mccafee allowed a fake antivirus to be installed and my client , which wasnt my client until then, was forced to pay 100$ to have it removed... By the virus.:)

So yeah, never mccafee. And never any other free antivirus, unless you know what you are doing and really know your computer.

So, if you are going to use a free antivirus, combo them with :

-AdwCleaner , run once a week
-Hijackthis , learn to read the log
-http://www.malwarebytes.org/

You should be safe.

Btw, yesterday, i went to my neighbours house and he had avira. His pc was BSODing a lot.I installed kaspersky trial 30 days, detected 8 virus.
It doesnt bsod anymore :) kinda lucky. I thought was psu when i saw lol.

Any other questions , feel free to ask.
