AFK Question

Just curious what the [hello] rules are w.r.t. people that are AFK for extended periods of time?

I ask this because I was just playing and I noticed that six people on my team were all AFK for several maps. Basically, we got our collective asses kicked several times.

It's really annoying because the auto-balance assumes that people are actually playing, when in fact the game turns into 12 vs. 6 battle because of the AFK.

Well, there's no rules about that. The only thing you can do is call an admin that will check who's AFK and kick him/them for being away during a long period of time.

But ppl AFK would still take slots on the server. If we put Specmode on, then we should put a limit time (you get kicked after 20 mins, for example).

Yes, I agree with Player_0 on this one. It's happening more often that players stay AFK for most of one level or more and the admins do nothing. Sometimes this leads to poor odds for one team but other times its fairly equal on both sides. What gets me is the other day I tried getting on at a peak time and around 8 players were AFK and I couldn't get on for about an hour, at least in those times an admin should kick AFK players who don't play for more than 5 minutes.

There's also a glitch with the current specmode, where you can spawn whilst in it and see when a flag is being captured and sometimes where the other team is.

Well, when it happens.. just tell it to an admin.

post it as a rule if nessecary: If going AFK dissconnect!
yes it can get annoyng but as ryan cooper said spectator wouldnt do much, they would still be there, and if byrds correct isnt there a spectator limit?. Just "dissconnect" them if they havent spawned for 5 minutes or so, kicking them might discourge them from playing on hello server, and it would cause a boat load of complaints comming in on "why did i get kicked". However something should be done about it.

This would be a problem, if we had a instant full 20 slots server.
We got 52 slots. Im sorry i cant see the problem...

he doesnt mean not having enough room for every one, he means having equal numbers of active players on your team. (leading to stacked teams, which is what auto ballance is suposed to stop :roll: ), If spectator mode gets fixed, this wont be an issue . ty

So all the players will instantly know that they can join Spectator Mode when their going to roast their sandwich? Im sorry but it feels like they will still mostly brb without making a big deal out of it and calling it afk..

Is there any way admins can place people into spectator mode instead of kicking them? One problem is that the last few times this afk problem has occurred, the people that were afk on the team were admins.
