I can now see why Fresh said to be careful about over admining. Being an older gentleman(no jokes please, LOL), I have a different set of morales than the other guys who play. For example, names that I find offensive, others don't, but I know would be offensive to any of our female players(1 example).

I would like to suggest that the Clan comes up with a written list of guidelines for what the Clan finds acceptable, not opinions, b/c my opinion is going to be way different than most others. It's b/c I'm a father and I see life through different lenses. With guidelines, it would force all to admin according to what the Clan wants, not what our opinions say.

Let me know your thoughts!


P.S. I think it would be good for management to come up with a "Mission Statement" to help define who the Clan is and where it is going. 90% of all large companies and organizations have one.

From these rules I mostly deal with insults and racism in names. For instance, someone with crude language in their name that obviously offends a group (F****** Jesus for example) should be asked to change their name, which is hardly an unreasonable request. From then on, the rules are (intentionally I believe?) vague and up for admin interpretation, depending on the situation.

What kind of a list do you suggest? Obviously we cannot have a list with every possible insulting situation, so you mean by category, say? I.E. Race insults, Religious insults, Family insults, General vulgarity etc. But even with that, admins still need to judge each situation individually- if someone says "your mom" in chat, it may possibly be taken as an insult of someone's family, but it's hardly serious. So, (this is what I have gathered from past comments here, please correct me if I am wrong) the main idea is: use your best judgement while dealing with people and then post as much evidence on the site as you can afterwards. That way, the community and leaders can also be a part of the decision. Then just take whatever feedback you get constructively.

Thanks Hippo, that's a great start. You right, it would take a book to cover every possible situation and I realize that would be stupid to do unless you were paid to do it.

How much bad language is too much? For example, Osama is one of the worst offenders of bad language and he likes to bully anybody(with bad language) who is new for their lack of skill. Why would a new player want to play on our server with that kind of abuse. Everybody started as a bad player.

malicious Twat - this name is offensive to me and would be to any female players. So i asked him to change it and some players said to leave him alone, including HelloClan members. "Twat" has two meanings 1.Idiot and 2.vagina. So what would you do in this instance?

So this is why I asked for guidelines. I want to fair in my decisions without compromising my integrity.

Integrity- noun, firm attachment to morale or artistic principle; honesty and sincerity: uprightness.

Remember, "A man is only as good as his word"

"Fair" will always be a matter of opinion...Personally I would just suggest upholding the rules as you see fit; no-one is going to question your integrity over simple cases of misunderstanding especially when words can have multiple interpretations. As long as you believe what you are doing is correct and are willing to stand by that decision and provide adequate reasoning behind it your decisions should be fine and your moral beliefs upheld and, should people disagree, there is nothing stopping them from stating their views here on the forum where it can be judged upon by a larger audience as if they state something that can be misinterpreted as malicious then it is their role to explain how they wish it to be interpreted; you taking action upon what they said if it is not explained is just a precaution and something they should expect.

GI, you're the admin, you're the boss! They whine about it, who cares? They have to listen to the authority. You find it offensive, you have the right to take action. And report it if needed, as you already do. If they dont like it, they can make a post to whine. Just tell them that. If it doesn't work, I'll take care of them

so is 360 Droopy unbanned than... for he and easting had a dispute in the server over something. spam i believe.
but hes been banned for along time now, with no topic. hes not a hacker, he doesnt disrespect anyone. if he would have known that the threat of being kicked was coming from an admin im certain he would have not argued with easting. i like easting as an admin hes very fair, level headed and all round damn good player.
but i would hope that we can unban droopy for hes never disrespected the server or any of its players or members ever. this was a one time incident, and i hope we can resolve it soon. thx guys.

I was being serious. Caps in texting is yelling, so I was told. I'm 47 years old and am probably the same age as his dad and I don't think Lost would get very far yelling at his dad. Lets get something straight here Kurk, I'm not some teenie, wet behind the ears youth that can be talked to in any way. That's one virtue I believe is lacking in alot of young males today, respecting their elders. I dare you to use the term "No need to get your panties in a twist" with your dad and see how that goes! I know Tedde would never talk to me like that b/c he has respect for me. But Tedde is unique is this area and that's why he will go far in life. Now if I was an ASS, tell me so and I'll apologise for my words.

When I was a teenager I thought I knew it all and my 'Old man' knew nothing. Until... I got older and found out he was right. Crap! Why didn't I listen to him and take his advice. I would be father in life if I did.

I'll end my rant with this, if the youth of today can figure out the deep meaning of this saying and apply it to their lives, they will go far:

Yes, my simple response to your overreaction is definitely a sign of my infinite lack of wisdom and knowledge. I know; I don't know everything and I've never demanded respect. You, however, demand it and for which I can't respect. Now, I don't know why you need to come off as insecure--because that is what you are coming off as--, but all I said was that Lost was not yelling at you, but instead at the entire HelloClan Administration team.

And please, do not use the "I have more experience and wisdom because I'm 47" argument because it lacks ground. It's bloody well good that you have experience in life's many harrowing pitfalls, but it has no relevance on a gaming forum. As such, this is a gaming community, where the population is predominately pubescent teens who would rather flame someone than have a philosophical debate. You being 47 is nice and all, but your "experience" has no grounds in the world of gaming, or technology for that matter. Wisdom is great; if you live in 16th century China.

Now, I'm not one to disrespect elders, but just because you happen to be 47 does not mean I have to change my sentence structure, my words, and my tone to fit you like you are a king. You sound like a cranky old man who demands respect from everyone that happens to fall under his age--like age even means anything--and if you don't get it you whine.

Well, you entitled to your opinion, but that does not make it correct. Respect has everything to do with how you write, what you say and the tones you use. That's another problem with todays pubescent teens, they think this world of gaming is real, no it's a game. It's just "make believe". All the peripherals around gaming is just a way to mask the truth about it, it's fake.

Wisdom is everywhere, for example, if one drinks wine and gets a major hang-over, try beer! Stick your finger in a electrical socket and.. you get the idea. Experience and wisdom has brought forth all the great technology you use today. If it didn't, Apple would have started with the IPad.

Knowledge + Experience + Wisdom = A Great Life

BTW, Lost apologised and that proves he has wisdom and that he is one the road to true manhood. It takes guts to humble yourself and say your sorry.
