Strange problem, proberbly Karma.

Allright, I have a problem in BFV at the computer at my fathers house. At two events ago, when we did a race, me and Brazil decided to have the same names so I took the name BigTroll. Since then, however, every time I start up BFV it switches back to that name. I have to join a server and only then can I join a game, wich causes problems with people. I know 'certain people' here dont believe it, so here is a video of it.

If someone knows a solution for this other then reinstalling ( I lost my cd 1) , I would really appreciate it.

The part where it says "You must restart the game for this change to take affect"..did you try that? XD

Try going into your BFV Program files -> BFV- Version 1.2 - Mods - BFVietnam - settings - Profiles
Inside profiles you should find a list of all the profiles you have made. (Even though I only have two actively showing up in game, there is a list of 8 on my computer.) Delete the profile with BigTroll as its profile name (you may have to open them up with notepad to find out which one that is.)

ah ,, i watched it afew times and i think i know what your doing wrong... at first u change name by clicking once ,, then u hit save ,,, theres the mistake........ u have to double click comandobeta,, so it appears in the box to the left,,, THEN save...... watch video again,, u will see u hit save without really changing it .... (at 5 sec mark)

I did what you said, Hippo, but I think I did something wrong ( I deleted all profiles that I made myself), and now when I start up BFV I see the black screen with 'Battlefield Vietnam' on it, then it disappears and comes again. So its some sort of vicious circle. Anyway I cant start up Battlefield Vietnam anymore :cry:
And fresh as you can see in the video: after I pressed save and went back to profiles, it said my name was CommandoBeta.

When it comes to software, I believe you either have to know each line of it's code, or such tries are like flogging a dead horse. If I were you, I'd reinstall the shit.

Is there any way someone can rip CD1 image (and upload it on the internet so you could download, burn and use it)? I've tried that for backup purposes, but failed because of Starforce (?) protection. And if it's really possible to rip those CDs, I could upload an image for you.

Anyway, last time I checked with Beta, the computer that he had his BFV issue(s) with suffered a blue screen of death crash.

I suspect that his BFV profile problems are deeper than the game itself; and are related to an OS / hardware issue.

There is just no reason to have a BFV profile load error that turns into a blue screen crash.... Unless, of course, DICE did some really lousy programming...?

Ideas anyone?

I get this problem on my laptop from time to time. I generally just re-install, since its too much work for something so trivial. Also, find a torrent of BFV, since you own a legal copy of the game. Keep the .iso backup from it since you play BFV a lot.
