I've been sharing events with this template:
Come join HelloClan for a EVENT TYPE RELATIVE TIMECODE! See event-details at DISCORD-EVENT LINK and LINK TO FORUM-THREAD, installation-instructions on LINK TO RESOURCE.

This has the benefit that you get the whole event-embed included with the post, including the "✓ Interested"-button - like the bottom message in the image below - but the generated Discord event-link is short lived and invalidates in less than a week. The relative timecode is from https://r.3v.fi/discord-timestamps/, and useful for showing the local time like the events do.

The alternative is to use the format https://discord.gg/[PERMANENT-ID]?event=[EVENT-ID], which keeps the server-invite even past the expiry date of the event. Like this:

Discord event links.jpg

Notice that the top link fails, but looked identical to the bottom one a week ago. This is presumably because EDCWYjZy is the temporary link generated by Discord for this event, whereas UVzSQNBPm8 is the permanent link to the server that https://www.helloclan.eu/discord/join resolves to. When creating events, be sure to set the location to Somewhere else and use "https://www.helloclan.eu/discord/join", as a voice channel breaks the Discord.gg-link.

A backup-solution is to link to https://www.helloclan.eu/discord/join instead and include the event-picture as an attachment, but you don't get the embed. Also you cannot attach an image when editing a message on Discord after initially posting it. A template for this would be:
Come join HelloClan for a EVENT TYPE RELATIVE TIMECODE! See event-details at LINK TO FORUM-THREAD, installation-instructions on LINK TO RESOURCE, and join HelloClan's Discord on https://www.helloclan.eu/discord/join to RSVP.

What are your experiences with sharing events? I thought I had got my head around the correct format for the ideal link, that links directly to the event and falls back to the server after the event is over, but clearly not.

@S_h_a_r_k_93, you've helped me a lot with this before. Do you have any clear tips for understanding what the ideal link to share is?

In my humble opinion, the best is to make use of Discord's built-in invites; not the website redirect one.
The event embed allows you to write a brief description of the event, it shows how many are interested and
it's an easy way to join with a click (yes the website redirect is one click too, but the embed is generic and
it doesn't show how many are interested). Most importantly, event embeds show clear local date/time.

When sharing the invitation around, having a permanent invite code along with the ?event=[EVENT-ID]
is the most straightforward way for onboarding new users. After the event ends, the embed turns into a
regular invite, showing the Community banner and pointing future readers to where the event was held.

A minor drawback is that the https://discord.gg/[PERMANENT-ID]?event=[EVENT-ID] will show the event banner,
and if you also attach an image to the post it's sort of a double face-palm; but after the event ends it'll look
cool for posterity. Also, Discord allows you to copy the event URL: don't do it, it's no use outside of the Discord
where the event is hosted so, it's a false-friend link: outsiders will not have access to that resource via that link
(I'm referring to the "Copy event link" url: https://discord.com/events/[SERVER-ID]/[EVENT-ID], best to avoid it).

Finally if the Discord event is set to be in a voice-chat, you'll need a permanent invite code to that voice-chat;
if the Discord event is set to be in an external place, you'll need a permanent server invite code (right-click server
> invite > set permanent, unlimited use).
So when you've created the Discord event and you've gotten the invite
link, swap out the gg./code with your stashed permanent one and pronto, no more trail of invalid invite embeds!

@IceSkater, could you confirm that UVzSQNBPm8 is the permanent identifier for Hello's server?
