1. Implement a rule of no main taking when less than 16 players on. If you aren't going to program it, at least set a rule about it.

2. Turn map voting on. Alternatively, take out the maps that kill the server.

3. Turn on player vote kick. When so few are playing, and there are no admins on, an AFK can really mess up the game.

Thanks again.

If I could offer my own useless opinion (😆):

- First suggestion is impossible to program, unless that's something that can be done from the server. The game engine isn't set up for it being done in the maps themselves. As for having a rule about it, I think there's merit to the idea, but I would say 16 players is too high a minimum limit. Maybe somewhere around 10 would be more appropriate. Although I don't play often during the week, I do often see the number of active players while I'm on Discord or doing modding testing, and I see numbers around 8-12 during the week far more often than I see 16+.

- I feel neutral overall about map vote. I think it definitely has merit as far as allowing players to choose the maps they want and avoid pushing away some players, but we also run the risk of getting stuck with a loud majority voting for the same few maps again and scaring off other people anyway. I can say for myself that if I get on to play and people start voting "Hastings Hastings Hastings!" I'm out, and I think some other people will be as well.

- I'm 100% in support of player kick vote, having played a match on Reclaiming Hue where it was an AFK and me vs three players on the other team, or effectively 1v3, and also a few incidents with problem-players when there's no admin around to kick them. We've got a good crew for the most part, and I can't really see player kick vote being abused, so I'm not sure there are any arguments to be made against having it.

1. We will continue to discuss the proposed "no main" rule when player count is low and get back to you soon ;)

2. So after some discussion we feel that Map vote will remain off. Back when it was turned on we had too much spam voting and complaints. In the game chat you can say "admin! Please change map" and it will send an alert to all BFV admins on discord. When you type "admin!" it sends the alert. Admins are still able to change maps if a majority wants it and with "admin!" in chat everybody can request an admin to look into it. As far as turning map vote on and off when the player count is low this requires a server restart when the setting is changed. This is not ideal as it will boot all of the players.

3. As far as vote kick goes I am afraid it will be abused or misused so we would prefer you use the in game chat to say "admin! please kick the afk's" then an alert will go to all BFV admins on discord.

Thank you for the input Pinky and Denal, it is nice to see the community making suggestions for improvement :)

It really sucks when there are like 8 guys playing ane one is AFK. There's no way to boot them. And the server goes empty.

Thank you for your response. The "Easy Prey/Death" BFV server has been programmed so that mains cannot be taken. So we know it can be done.

The map vote issue, historically, I think, been that there are some who abuse it. They summon a vote ever three or four minutes and that gets tiring. Because of their spamming, the feature was taken down. That really sucks for those of us who play the game. I would think the only way to fix that is to somehow program the game to allow a vote every 20 minutes or so.

Obviously, I agree on the player vote kick. I just learned that we can try to summon an admin but not sure how well that will work.

In any event, I'm trying to save a game that's been on it's death bed for years.

As long as we are not able to contact the programmer of the RM tool (he is not responding), there is no chance to implement a timeout for the mapvote.

Your opinion and effort is appreciated! :)

Thank you so much Heilig. I really do appreciate the hard work you and other admins put into this game. It will end someday, like all of us.

It seems there was a post here by some player who said he could program the fix. I'll look back.

About the EPD server... Have they simply programmed it so mains can't be taken at all, or have they programmed it so a minimum player count is required? The first one is easy to do and I've done it many times in my mods, so that isn't news to me. The second is impossible as far as I know, so if they've managed to do it, I'd like to know. The game engine has code that allows capturing a flag to simply be turned on or off, but nothing that allows a flag to only be captured when a player count is met.

Did you try typing Admin! Please kick afk’s in chat? This will sent us a discord alert.
Had to come back and write down this command as Illyon90 was just raping main on Hastings. Thing is, they don't seem to mind the punishment.

Can you please try "admin! your message here" without a capitalized A (and without quotes)?
That is the original command and it may not react on a capitalized A

Flight is right: "Admin!" is the command. You also need to write that in the gamechat - I cannot find such a message in the logs. :)
I understand, I posted it incorrectly. So now I am again confused, is it Admin! or admin!
